Perry has practiced trademark and intellectual property law at Chicago firms since 2013. As leader of the firm’s Trademarks and Branding practice, he represents branding, naming, and design agencies as well as established and start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.
Perry’s mass trademark screening and clearance assists creative agencies in helping their clients determine what to call their new businesses, products, and services. His trademark clearance services enable clients to get to yes faster while cutting down on wasted resources. Perry also counsels agency clients on how to improve their own internal processes to reduce trademark friction wherever possible.
In addition to his creative agency services, Perry maintains an active trademark prosecution docket of more than 500 active registrations and applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is available for assistance with new applications for business, start-up, and entrepreneurial clients. He also advises clients on transactional and strategy matters related to IP.
In 2026, Legal 500 named Perry to its U.S. City Elite rankings for Chicago, where he is featured in Tier 2 of the Intellectual Property: Non-Contentious category. Perry is one of around 20 Chicago-based trademark attorneys to receive this honor among boutique and mid-sized firms. In 2025, The IP Attorneys selected Perry as its sole 2025 Illinois representative, listing him in the premier guide of leading intellectual property attorneys around the U.S. Perry was also named a 2022 and 2023 Super Lawyers Rising Star in Intellectual Property.
Perry received his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and his B.S. from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. While in law school, Perry served as an Associate Editor of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review, a student attorney in the Intellectual Property and Nonprofit Organizations Legal Clinic, and as Legal Extern to U.S. Magistrate Judge Lurana S. Snow in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
